PROJECT: Accountant - 9 months

An international organisation in Ekeren is looking for an enthousiastic, organised and pro-active accountant. Do you have a Bachelor degree in Accounting and looking for a job within a dynamic and growing organisation?

The Accountant will be responsible for:

• Managing the company’s petty cash,
• Liaising with bankers regarding financial transactions
• Processing entries of various items, including but not limited to: sale & purchase invoices, journal vouchers, payment & receipt vouchers, credit & debit notes, travel expenses….
• Managing various accounting activities, not limited to closing general monthly expenses
• Following-up and monitoring collections, reconciling customer & bank accounts and creditors, debtors and inter-companies accounts
• Following up personnel (days off, sick leave…)
• Generating the end of month closing: salaries, depreciation, prepaid & accruals, aging reports, reconciliations…
• Maintaining general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts; preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries
• Assist and preparing monthly & yearly financial reports ( sales report, balance sheet, profit & loss and budget ) and reporting to HQ on the same
• Conducting stock takes and reconciling inventory values
• Assist in preparing VAT, withholding tax, income tax declarations, in collaboration with the external accountant
• Protecting organization's value by keeping information confidential
• Helping with external audits, and all other tax audits, including VAT inspections
• Assisting Manager in General Administration.

Profile of the Accountant:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting & Finance.
• A minimum of 2 years experience in an accounting & finance role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills: English and Dutch is mandatory, French is a plus.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and principles
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
• You are a highly organised teamplayer and displays discretion and takes initiative at all times
• Excellent knowledge of Excel
