Through a creative display of innovation and stamina, staff from across Robert Walters, Walters People and Resource Solutions, our recruitment outsourcing business, came together on Friday 13 October to raise £116,383 for charities around the world on our sixth annual Global Charity Day.
Each year, staff utilise their creativity, talent and team skills to raise as much money as possible to help charities around the world continue to perform the vital work they do.

Going the extra mile
In 2017, fundraising activities took a variety of forms. Staff from Resource Solutions in the UK tested their stamina by taking part in treadmill marathons, a bicycle lap around London and a 100km triathlon in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Meanwhile, Shay Peters, director of our New Zealand business, bravely volunteered to shave his head to raise funds for KidsCan, an organisation that provides underprivileged children in New Zealand with food, clothing and healthcare so they can focus on their education.
Supporting our local communities
In Germany, our teams in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf volunteered to collect and distribute food donations to local people in need and staff in Ireland held their own ‘Great Irish Bake Off’ in aid of the Capuchin Day Centre for Homeless People. In Australia, our teams organised coffee and cake sales and a lawn bowls competition in support of Dress for Success, a charity that aims to empower local women by helping them to achieve economic independence.
Staff from both Walters People and Robert Walters in Belgium volunteered their practical skills, including baking, gardening and painting, to help make local SOS Children’s Villages feel more like home for the children staying there.
Across China, staff raised funds to support the Suzhou Shancheng Public Welfare Association. In Shanghai, staff secured sponsorships from a local coffee shop and florist, giving staff the opportunity to learn new skills in coffee making and flower arranging in exchange for a donation. While staff in Korea took the opportunity to try new skills by raising money for Anna’s House which cares for homeless children and adults, through candle and perfume making workshops.
“I’m delighted that we have yet again set a new fundraising record in 2017. This is a huge achievement and is testament to our staff’s dedication to give back to their local communities. Each year, I am blown away by the effort and imagination our staff devote to their fundraising activities, and I look forward to seeing what next year will bring," added Giles Daubeney.
