Audrey Hannecart started her career as a recruitment consultant for Walters People in 2013. She now works in our internal recruitment team, hiring staff for our offices across Belgium. She tells us why ambitious graduates and young professionals should consider a career in recruitment and talks about why now is a great time to join Walters People.

How did you get into recruitment?

I had just graduated with a Master in commercial science and I was looking for a fast-evolving and dynamic environment with a strong people focus. Fast forward 4 years and I now recruit for Walters People’s Belgian offices in Brussels, Zaventem, Groot-Bijgaarden, Antwerp and Ghent.

What sort of skills are needed for a role as recruiter?

We are very team-focused, so a sociable and vibrant personality is the most important thing for us. It’s great to be sales-orientated and it’s a bonus to have a background in either finance or HR, but the attitude of the individual is key. We want people who are driven and ambitious.

What does a job with Walters People offer graduates?

To be successful in recruitment you will need to quickly develop a wide range of skills like effective communications, sales tactics, personal effectiveness and business acumen. The Belgian labour market has improved greatly over the past few years, and as a result, Walters People has grown significantly year on year as well. In order to support our growth, we have expanded our teams in all our locations and opened a new office in Antwerp.
